エボIIIといってもメルセデス・ベンツ190E!? 21世紀にレストモッドでエボIIから進化した「1048Style 190E EVOIII」！【東京オートサロン2025】

メルセデス・ベンツ190Eエボリューションとは？
800台を超えるカスタムカーが並ぶ中、異彩を放っていたのがこのメルセデス・ベンツ190Eだ。1980年代から90年代の欧州車に詳しい方ならモチーフとした車両が190Eエボリューションだということがお分かりだろう。
190Eエボリューションとは、1982年から販売されていたメルセデス初のDセグメント（現在の規格ではBCセグメントにあたる）というコンパクトなセダンをベースに、ドイツツーリングカー選手権（DTM）への出場を目的に開発されたもの。
当初は2.3L直列4気筒エンジンをベースにコスワースが開発した16バルブのヘッドを搭載し、グループAホモロゲーションモデルの190E2.3-16として誕生。1986年から市販モデルが販売された。
1988年にはDTMのレギュレーション変更に合わせ、エンジンをストロークアップして2.5Lとした190E2.5-16が登場した。そして1989年、より戦闘力を高めた190E2.5-16エボリューションを発表。大型のスポイラーやオーバーフェンダーなどのエアロパーツを装備し、DTMに参戦するレースカーそのままのスタイルで市販化。限定500台で販売された。
コスワースによりチューニングされた2463ccの直列4気筒DOHC16バルブエンジンは231psを発生。
1990年にはさらに進化した190E2.5-16エボリューションⅡが登場。最高出力は235psにパワーアップ。こちらも500台限定で販売された。
1991年にはDTMでマニファクチャラータイトルを獲得。翌1992年はAMG、ZAKSPEED、MASS-SCHONSなどから8台が出場し、全24戦中16戦で優勝。マニファクチャラーズタイトルとともにドライバーズタイトルも獲得している。
1993年には190E/C1がレースカーとしてデビューしているが、すでにCクラスが登場していたこともあり、市販モデルは登場しなかった。
時を超えてエボリューションはIIからIIIへ
東京オートサロン2025に展示されていたメルセデス・ベンツ190Eには「1048Style 190E EVO3」のネームプレートが掲げられていた。
これはイギリスのカーデザイナーKhyzyl Saleem氏がSNS上で発表した3Dレンダリングモデルを、RWB（RAUH-Welt BEGRIFF）などのブランドでも知られる日本のチューニングパーツメーカーKamiwazaJapanが190E2.3-16をベースに具現化したもの。
Khyzyl Saleem氏が描いたグラフィックは190E EVOⅡをモチーフに、オリジナルのボディラインを維持しながら大胆にモデファイされて2ドアクーペ化されている。

https://www.instagram.com/p/CaARpnxIkk4/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link実際に制作されたデモカーは4ドアセダンのままだが、ブリスターフェンダーや特徴的なエアロホイール、マットシルバー＆ミントグリーンのカラー、ブラックマスクなど、その特徴を捉えて制作されている。
車高はFITMENT ENGINEERING製のエアサスペンションにより変化させることができるようになっている。ちなみに実車に装着されているエアロパーツは190E EVOⅡ用のエアロを加工したものだ。
車両はKamiwazaJapanから出品されているものの、自社のデモカーではなく、代表が完全に趣味で製作したもの。2024年はBMW M3のレストモッドも製作しており、いずれはアウディV8 クワトロやオペル・オメガのレストモッドも完成させて、1990年代初頭のDTM出場車を並べたいという野望があるのだとか。来年の出展が早くも楽しみになってきた。
